Thanks Lana. I think we need to re-focus on what we are doing, rather than what we are giving up. I think this is one of the biggest reasons that weight loss has been difficult, because people don’t take time to think about the reason why they are eating that food, or when they are eating it. Once again, we need to stop giving excuses to our eating.

She makes a great point about the importance of our habits and routines. I was having a conversation with a friend recently about how I’ve been working on becoming more aware of my habits. As you can imagine, there have been a few bumps in the road along the way. One habit I’ve had trouble breaking is my obsession with eating. I was getting way too obsessed with it and couldn’t stop myself.

When you become obsessed with something, your thoughts and actions become a little more random. You think a little differently, you act a little differently, and you feel a little differently. It can all get very overwhelming.

Well, as I have mentioned before, Ive been working on developing better habits, routines, emotions, and reactions. Ive also been working on developing better habits in general, because if I didnt have them I would probably end up just having the same obsession with food as I do now. That is, until recently when Ive started feeling a little less crazy about eating in general. The biggie, however, is that Ive started focusing more on just being aware of my habits.

This is the one thing Ive realized though, that I have been meaning to tell you about for a while. I think that most of us have some sort of habits, routines, emotions, and reactions that we tend to stick to for no apparent reason. For example, one of my favorite habits is to constantly listen to music. I never really paid much attention to it until I had to turn it off because it started to seem like it was making me very, very sad.

This is a habit that I think we should all try to be aware of. But we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we brush our teeth. That’s what the “no-thought-no-action” rule is all about. When you’re aware that the thought “to brush my teeth” is probably going to make you feel sad, you’re more likely to do it.

But if it is a habit, then it is a habit that should be broken. This is especially true if it is a habit that you don’t even have a good reason to carry out. For example, if you are addicted to listening to music, you should be aware that that can contribute to your sadness. If you are addicted to brushing your teeth, you should be aware of the fact that that can make you sad.
